OUR STORY
On a cool fall morning in 1973, Carroll Herring founded the first in-home care company in Wilmington, NC. She converted the single car garage at the family home and began to serve the senior population. While growing up her son, Russell Herring, witnessed his parents running a company that was founded for helping others in their community. After graduating from East Carolina University, Russell worked in the medical sales industry gaining valuable experience.
In 1994, Russell decided to follow in his parents footsteps and start his own business. AssistedCare was established as a personal care company and later expanded to provide mental health, developmental disability services, and skilled home health services.
In 2017, Russell and the Herring family made the decision to combine their resources and bring the family of companies together as one united organization…which leads us to where we are today! We are now known as AssistedCare at Home consisting of services for developmental disability, private duty nursing, and home health. Although the in-home care is a division of AssistedCare at Home, the division still operates as Eldercare at Home.
